Noise from Airports .

Does anyone know what is going on with the airport flight paths recently ?

There seems to be a huge increase in the noise levels over my area - Pascoe Vale - in recent months.

I can’t seems to find any info on this .

Thanks .

Probably something to do with the fact that we have had more true Westerly winds recently. I thought it had been fairly quiet in my area, Keilor East, I am directly under the flight path for Tulla and Essendon.

Everyone in Essendon, Strathmore, Keilor, Niddrie etc etc at some time is directly under the flight path. Yes, mostly it’s prevailing wind conditions. Sometimes must be runway maintenance.
I’m very lucky, I get the police helicopter, Elvis, and, when they are about, the Blimps flying over my house.

    thanks for your help
Runway maintenance seems to bea good reason
they are working on DFO next to the Essendon Airport .,
which may be a factor .

    Well I could help you,
I’m a photographer for airliners.net and I don’t get paid for this. Well anyway Melbourne Airport is under going a runway renovation, and I think their building 2 more runways I’m not sure. The noise could also be the RAAF Jets, could be the McDonnel Douglas F/A-18 Hornet

The DFO work would not be an issue. I was just up at Tulla and they are using N/S for landings and some takeoffs and E/W runway for takeoff. The new runways have not been started yet, still years away. It does all depend on the strength and direction of the wind.
